Sam Pointon
Biography
​
Sam is Founder and Head Coach of OnPoint Coaching, which he now runs full-time, delivering high-quality rugby coaching to individuals and groups at all levels. Alongside this, Sam is also coaching at Birmingham Moseley RFC, competing in National League One, where he also leads on the club's transition programme, developing young talent and helping bridge the gap to first team rugby.

Sam was formally Head Rugby Coach for the 1st XV at Rugby School, one of the most prestigious co-educational boarding schools in the UK. He also held additional roles as a Deputy Housemaster in a boys boarding house, Sports Performance Analyst and Master in Charge of Athletics. Over nine seasons, Sam guided the 1st XV to significant success, including an unbeaten season, a Champions Trophy final, several oversees tours including South Africa, Australia and Japan, and three appearances in the Rosslyn Park National Schools 7s finals, winning one of them.

Sam started his coaching craft at Loughborough University, whilst studying for his degrees in Sports Technology BSc. and Masters in Sports Coaching. He coached across many teams including the Men's and Women's Rugby 7s squads, and the Men's 3rd XV.
After graduating Sam has coached in several developmental environments, including leading on the U15 age group for Midlands Central, and coaching regularly for UR7s. Sam has also completed the RFU Advanced Coach award.

Sam has enjoyed a successful rugby playing career as well, earning over 180 caps in National League One for Loughborough Students and Birmingham Moseley. Sam was a long-standing Club Captain of Birmingham Moseley RFC, has international honours for England Students and has captained Great Britain Students 7s, winning both a gold and silver medals in World Championship tournaments.

Our Services.
At OnPoint Coaching, we provide high-quality expert rugby coaching focused on core skills development tailored to individual needs. Our 1-to-1 sessions can be arranged at facilities in Warwickshire, UK, or at a location convenient for you. Join OnPoint Coaching to enhance your rugby skills and achieve your athletic goals.

We have also launched the OnPoint Academy, which features regular group training sessions hosted at Broadstreet Rugby Football Club near Coventry. The Academy trains on Monday evenings at 6pm and subscription can include access to individualised training programs and a discount on 1-to-1 sessions. The OnPoint Academy is currently open to new players aged 11-16.
