Welcome to OnPoint Coaching, where I draw on my extensive experience as a qualified rugby coach and an active rugby player to help athletes excel. I specialize in skill development and offer bespoke 1-to-1 sessions tailored to meet each player's unique needs. Additionally, I run the OnPoint Academy, featuring regular group sessions that foster a collaborative environment for players to enhance their skills together. My goal is to equip athletes with the essential tools and techniques they need to elevate their performance and achieve their personal best on the field. Sam Pointon
Biography
Currently Sam is Head Rugby Coach for the 1st XV at Rugby School, one of the most prestigious co-educational boarding schools in the UK, and also has the responsibilities of Sports Performance Analyst and Master in Charge of Athletics. Sam is an experienced coach having worked closely with many young and talented players across all domains. Sam has led the 1st XV for 8 seasons which has included his team reaching the final of the Champions trophy competition, and two finals at the prestigious Rosslyn Park 7s (including one victory).
Sam started his coaching craft at Loughborough University, whilst studying for his degrees in Sports Technology BSC. and Masters in Sports Coaching. He coached across many teams including the Men's and Women's Rugby 7s squads, and the Men's 3rd XV.
After graduating Sam has coached in several developmental environments, including leading on the U15 age group for Midlands Central, and coaching regularly for UR7s. Sam has also completed the RFU Advanced Coach award.
Sam has enjoyed a successful rugby playing career as well, earning over 175 caps in National League One for Loughborough Students and Birmingham Moseley. Sam is currently Club Captain of Birmingham Moseley RFC and has international honours for England Students and Great Britain Students 7s, winning both a gold and silver medals in World Championship tournaments.

At OnPoint Coaching we offer high quality expert rugby coaching, which focuses on delivering core skills development tailored to the needs of the individual. Our service revolves around 1-to-1 sessions, which can be arranged at facilities in Warwickshire, UK or other arrangements can be made which are closer to your location.
